Meet The Owner, Jim Healy:
My roofing career started in 1980, at age 17, working as a helper for small residential roofing companies. I joined roofers local #33 as a roofing apprentice at 19. I worked for various companies, through my apprenticeship of three years, such as B.H Cutler, Titan Roofing, Hartford Roofing, and Oak Roofing. I received my journey man card in 1983.
From 1983 to 1990, I was traveling around New York, New Jersey, and other New England States working mainly for B.H Cutler out of Worcester. Primarily I worked on T&G jobs (a.k.a. tar and gravel), since EPDM (single ply rubber roofing) was a new product.
During the 90’s I started working for myself on weekends. In 1993 I began Healy Roofers and did numerous residential roofs, as well as sub contracted to many roofing companies like Mayo Roofing, A&M Roofing, LeClair Roofing, and 21st Century Roofing. Through the years I also applied many roofs in Florida including B.J’s Wholesale in Parkland, FL.
In 2001, I felt I was ready for change. I received the opportunity to join the Bricklayers Union Local #3 due to my knowledge in hot asphalt. I was hired by NER Building Restoration in March of 2001. I supervised jobs like the Stata Center at MIT and the Harvard Business School on Western Ave. Brighton.
In 2004, I began working as a foreman for Acme Waterproofing. Working for Acme expanded my knowledge to other aspects of waterproofing construction including caulking, parking garage coatings, swing staging rigging, etc. While with Acme I supervised more of the larger jobs in the greater Boston area, like The World Trade Center, 303 3rd Street Cambridge, Salem State College’s Orange Hall, and various other projects.
I started Top Grade Roofing and Waterproofing as a new business to combine the two trades of roofing and waterproofing. Being highly experienced in both of these is rare to the industries, and helps to set me apart from other contractors. I am a one stop shop for your convenience.
My Goals:
